Late Night's with Hing

Today I discovered my life was a lie. Which got me thinking, why don't I go out and hunt some yak. ... I then discovered, the yak had been extinct for 600 years, and the best I could do was add to a website. And that I have done. As I write these words, I'm not exactly sure what purpose this website has in the Scheme of things. I do however, know that it will eventually fall into the category of "desolate wasteland" as with those fish mum got me for Christmas (4 days ago). Indeed, she didn't actually get me fish. I am adamant this will be my last fishless Christmas. Enough jibbering though, with the year nearly over, I have started to make lists of 2001. Top 5's.. The one I'm currently working on is the Top 5 Get-Togethers of 2001.  There were so many excellent things I got to do this year with all my friends, and reluctantly, I've got 6 which, I think were pretty stand-out, but choosing them was hard enough, I doubt I'd be able to rate them against each other - and there's no way I could cut it down to 5.

Lan's B-day Party
Earlier this year, I think it was some time around May, McHoppy turned 17. Lan decided she was good enough for a party at this point, and so she threw herself a monster of a party. So Lan lives in Bangor, right, and as the learned among you would realise, Bangor's main attraction is its bogans. They inhabit gutters, deck chairs, and best of all, horse trailers, so we planned on going to Lan's house to watch the Bogans. I think it was a mate of mine Paddy who came up with the concept of well, taking Lan's lounge chair out of her living room, and placing it on her front lawn in order to get a better view of the Bogans. I tell you, it was bloody fun. It was just like 20 people, playing basketball, jumping on a trampoline, drinking copious amounts of alcohol and taking a few cool photos. I don't know why it was so amazingly fun, but whenever I think of 2001, I'm going to remember Lan's party.

Y'know, I just thought of this, but I think what made Lan's party so extraordinary was that I turned up, not being informed of the fact that it was her birthday. And as such, I well, didn't get her anything. Cheapest night ever? Oh, you better believe it. Me and the guys I turned up with found our way there well, about an hour early or something, but we didn't want to be rude, so we sat on her front porch for a while, before going in and ransacking the place. Actually, the highlight of the night for me was, just being able to hang out with some of the best friends in the world, having a few D&M's with people, meeting new faces, and well, ... extreme pain.

Fetish Shopping Day
it was only a few months ago, but I remember it like it never happened. There was me, Paddy, Jo and Jazz,  and we planned on going into the city and buying like, clothes and fetish stuff, and whatever else we could get our hands on. I had about $200 with me, and I spent most of that on CD's. Addiction. (So maybe I do have a problem)... We ended up watching one of my favourite movies of 2001 - Blow - and I got two new pairs of pants. which Jazz and Jo seem to enjoy more than myself. When I think of it, it wasn't as though - and I mean this in the nicest possible way - I had the best time, but it was really.. and the only word I can think to describe it is nice. Everything that happened that day went well. I met them after church, and we wandered around shopping in the city and yeah. Nothing bad happened. There was so much laughing, and although I wasn't incredibly close to Jacyleen and Jasmine at the time, it was still fun to hang out with them. It gets points because of the fact that I saw an amazing movie, and because I was with some really cool people. I think it was, above all else, a cultured outing. Movies, Music and Pants.

Dave's Birthday

Best mate in the world, his birthday was pretty special. We just sat around, talking... But I guess what I liked most about it was that I managed to pull off a pretty special present relatively well. The - day? - beforehand I'd been at the Sydney Museum with my parents, and when I walked into their Souvenir shop I thought to myself "Dave  - You Need More Souvenirs" . So I got him a few little trinkets, one of which, he still wears today, 3 - 4 months later. Actually, it wasn't all that special. Heck, I think I just thought it was funny. The immortal card "Can you Feel The Love?.... Jacyleen! Get your hand of Paddy's leg!" .. We watched a few bad movies, we played his N64 a bit too much, but above all, we played a great game of Grid Iron, and although we were playing on Asphalt and although certain people were very close to hammering me into the ground, I still had a blast. Also I think the range of people there. There wasn't one set group of people at Dave's, there were people from all over the place, and we all got a long sort of well. Plus, this was when "Ewww Put a Shirt On" really took off. I dunno, I remember having a good time. And looking back, I'm to an extent embarrassed, but that's another story for another time.

Katoomba

A definite highlight of 2001 was a Free Public Transport Day back in, I guess April? I can't remember really. All I can think about was how the night before nobody wanted to come to Katoomba (For Free!) with me. And I was asking everyone, but no one wanted to come at all. Finally Fina, Andy and Nick agreed to coming, and we had such a good time. We spent like, 5 hours there and another 5 hours back in a train, but we still had a blast. In fact, we only spent like a few hours at Katoomba. The funnest bits of Katoomba were like the Photos, and being yelled at by the lady at the Brown Jug. Ooh, and this here lil doosey of Fina peeing on a rock.

So All in All Katoomba was fun.

Bundeena

Only a select few came to Bundeena with us. Me, Timmeah, McHoppy, Ally, Bobby, Jana, Paddy, Jovi, Anna, Bilfred, George.... and there were probably other people too, but I can't be expected to remember them all. We spent the day frolicking in the surf, sand and sandwiches. And I had heaps o food. What made this moment special? It was because for the maybe 4 -5 hours we were at Bundeena, I didn't have a care in the world. And this was non-alcohol, non-THC induced bliss, something I don't feel to often anymore. We dug a big hole, put Lan in there, and then made her into a Centaur. Once again, I think the fact that there were people I didn't usually talk to like, heaps who were there, that made it a day to remember.

Paddy's Birthday

Final highlight of 2001 - Paddy's Birthday Party. I thought that the party Paddy had at the beginning of the holidays would beat this one, but looking back, I'm not so sure. In comparison, this one was fewer people, so it was in a way elitist, which is something I'm all for. I mean elitism how can you say no? It's just so, arrogant! Mmmm... Paddy's Birthday, Paddy's Birthday, I think it was cool because we just did heaps of stupid shit that day. Like quite seriously, we had a 5L Keg, so no one was going to be plastered, but I just love hanging out at Paddy's house. Highlights include taking the Crack-Addict photo of George, and just plane Coyote Ugly Madness.
